Tiruppavada Seva Procedure
Tiruppavada Seva in Tirumala is a weekly seva performed by Lord Sri Venkateswara. The Seva is performed on Thursday early morning which starts at 06.15 AM. This seva is very unique and powerful. Before this seva is performed, all the ornaments will be removed from the idol and will be decorated with only Dhothi and Uttareeyam. The Tirunaamam and Ksaturi of Lord will be peeled off and a small namam will decorated. Due to this unique decoration, the pilgrims can see the Lord in Netra Darshan, where the pilgrims can see the eyes of the Lord, which is not visible on other days.
After performing this seva, Thiruppavada Seva is performed as arjitha Seva in the Mantapam in front of the Bangaru Vakili and Annakutotsavam. A large rectangular tub–like golden vessel is placed in the Mantapam and a huge quantity of “Pulihora”, along with other sweet preparations such as payasam, laddu, jilebi, thenthola, appam etc and other delicacies are deposited thereon with coconuts, flowers, sandal paste, kumkum, deepam is offered as naivedya to the Lord.
As the namam is peeled off, it is said that mortals will not be able to tolerate the powerful gaze of the Lord and hence are made to fall on the tamarind rice thus reducing the effect of the powerful gaze of the Lord.
